Freshman Are Not Allowed to Bring Their Own Computer to the University

Some universities or colleges have a rule which doesn’t allow freshmen to bring their own computer to the campus. The school authorities are afraid that freshmen do not have enough self-discipline and they will indulge themselves in the computer games if they are allowed to bring their own computer to the school. This will inevitably affect the students’ academic performance adversely.

I can understand what the authorites are thinking, but I am against this rule. As is known to all, computers play an indispensable role in our study and daily life. We can use computer to search a lot of information, to do our homework, to get to know what is happening in the world. Without computer, it is very inconvenient for our study. For those who are addicted to computer games, even if they are not allowed to bring their own computer, they might go to the net bar to play games. So it is uselss and also unnecessary ot have this rule.
